Heritage Hotels in Coorg are Delightful

Situated against the backdrop of the rich coffee plantations of Kodagu or Coorg, wherein within the shade of the world’s richest coffee agro-forests are also cultivated spices like black pepper, cardamom and vanilla, Coorg offers unstinted hospitality!

Staying in one of the Heritage Hotels in Coorg, residence of the erstwhile Diwans of the Rajas of Coorg in South-West Karnataka, is a unique experience!  A stately mansion with suites named after prize-winning horses, it is choc-a-bloc with an array of silver trophies, photographs, books and memorabilia of the ancestor-worshiping family who stills inhabits the estate.

The quaintly named Blue Heaven and I’m No Angel suites are situated on the first floor and a beautiful wooden antique staircase followed by a landing, a lounge, and a library eventually leads to the suites on the first floor level. The Lord Jim suite is on the ground floor and in close proximity to the lounge, the Reception area and the Lady Madcap suite. The Melody suite is situated in the centre of the cottage adjacent to the main building. Its four poster bed and cosy sitting area makes it an ideal choice for a family of 3 or close friends.

Amongst many other interesting activities here, highly recommended is a trip to the neighbouring Nagarhole Wildlife Sanctuary, which remains the best-preserved habitat of the Asian elephant, the tiger, the spotted deer and the bison.

The sloth bear, wild dog, panther, tiger, sambhar, bonnet macaque and 250 colourful avian species all make it a highly enriching experience!
