Heritage Hotels in Coonoor are Charming

Coonoor, the second largest hill station in the Nilgiris, surrounded by massive verdant tea plantations, at an altitude of 1,839 metres above sea level, is picturesque and pleasantly cool throughout the year.

Connected simultaneously to Mettupalyam and Ooty by the unique Toy Train, it is a popular week-end getaway!   The 19th century Scottish-style stately home that has now been transformed into one of the most popular Heritage Hotels in Coonoor, has its own prize-winning garden of the Nilgiris overlooking a unique pomological garden.   It is located two minutes from Sim’s Park, one of India’s most luxuriant Botanical Gardens, laid out in 1874 with over 1200 species of plants and many old rare trees like the Rudraksh, Paperwood, Elephant Leg, Strawberry Tree etc.

With its warm wooden interiors, high raftered ceilings and elegantly appointed spacious rooms with inviting beds, lounge chair, writing desk, dressing table, TV, aesthetic artworks and cozy fireplace, it is an invitation to sharing closeness and camaraderie in rooms evocatively named Gulmohar, Acacia, Pine ,Camphor and Eucalyptus!

Ensconced in comfort here, there are lots of things to do in Coonoor. A visit to the famous Sim’s Park, spread over 12 acres, founded by J.D. Sim, with its rich offerings of magnolia, pines, tree ferns, and camellia. The botanical garden is partly developed in the Japanese style and famous for its annual Flower and Fruit shows every May!   Visit Ooty with its many lakes, gardens, and buildings featuring colonial architecture, Lady Canning’s Seat, Dolphin’s Nose Viewpoint and majestic Law’s Falls, captivating in their timeless beauty....
